Thread Lifting

Facial thread lifting with Silhouette Soft is a painless, bloodless non-surgical procedure for addressing aging, skin laxity, and descent of facial structures using absorbable threads.

What are Silhouette Soft threads?
Silhouette Soft threads are sutures made of polylactic acid, an absorbable material commonly used in surgical sutures. Along part of their length, they feature specially designed microscopic cones made of the same absorbable material. These cones are arranged in opposite directions along the two halves of the thread so that when inserted into the skin, they “anchor” within the tissue, allowing it to be lifted and repositioned to the desired level.

Which areas can be treated?
Silhouette Soft threads can be applied to almost all areas of the face, such as the jawline, jowls and double chin, neck, cheeks and cheekbones, and forehead (eyebrows).

How is the procedure performed?
The placement of the threads is painless and bloodless, performed under local anesthesia in the clinic, and the entire procedure lasts 30–60 minutes.
For each thread, local anesthesia is applied at only three points: one entry point where the thread is inserted and two exit points where the two ends of the thread emerge—making the experience completely comfortable.

How many threads are needed?
The number of threads used depends on the degree of lifting desired. Typically, 1–2 threads are placed on each side.

What should I expect after the procedure?
The result of Silhouette Soft thread placement is immediate; however, it takes about 10–14 days for swelling to fully subside and for the skin over the threads to smooth out.

What should I pay attention to after the procedure?
After treatment, mild swelling, redness, and bruising may occur. For this reason, ice is applied immediately afterward to limit swelling, and a mild analgesic such as Depon is recommended if there is any discomfort. It is also advised to apply an antibiotic cream at the entry and exit points of the threads for 5 days.
Sometimes small dimples or bumps may appear along the course of the threads and at the insertion points; these usually resolve within 7–10 days. Similarly, a slight skin puckering (“gathering”) at the point of maximum lift may be observed and also subsides within 7–10 days.
Special care should be taken during the first days after the procedure to avoid moving the threads and compromising the result.

How long do the results last?
After thread placement, the body produces collagen around the thread and cones, stabilizing the result within 10–14 days so that it cannot “slip.” If for any reason the result needs to be reversed, the thread can simply be cut at the center, stopping its lifting effect.
The longevity of the result varies depending on skin quality and elasticity. The thread and cones are absorbed after about 8–9 months, but the collagen formed along their path continues to support the facial skin for up to one year after treatment.

How safe are Silhouette Soft threads?
Silhouette Soft threads are manufactured in the USA and are subject to strict quality and safety controls. They are FDA-approved in the United States and CE-certified in Europe. They are absorbable, free of significant side effects or complications, suitable for all skin types, and no allergic reactions have been reported.

What is the difference between Silhouette Soft Lift and a classic facelift?
The classic facelift remains the gold standard for correcting significant facial laxity, especially in older patients with advanced sagging.
However, many patients are not yet candidates for a full facelift but desire a refreshed appearance without incisions, prolonged recovery, or major downtime—and are willing to accept a shorter-lasting result. In these cases, Silhouette Soft Lift is an ideal solution.
