A few words about the doctor

Georgios Zampacos was born in the United Kingdom, where he spent his early childhood years. He graduated first in his class from the Experimental School of the University of Athens and was admitted to the Medical School of the University of Athens after achieving top marks in the national entrance examinations. He received his medical degree in 1992 and subsequently completed his military service in the Hellenic Navy, where he was discharged with the rank of Reserve Ensign. During his military service, he worked closely with the Plastic Surgery Clinic of the Athens Naval Hospital. After completing his military obligations, he continued working at the Second Surgical Clinic of the Athens Naval Hospital while maintaining his collaboration with the Plastic Surgery Clinic.

In February 1999, he moved to the United Kingdom, where he worked at the Plastic Surgery and Burns Unit of Derriford Hospital in Plymouth. He completed his training at the Plastic Surgery and Burns Clinic of KAT Hospital and then returned to the United Kingdom, where he worked for several years.

He served as a Consultant at the following hospitals:
• Plastic Surgery and Burns Unit, Derriford Hospital, Plymouth, United Kingdom
• Department of Plastic Surgery, Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, United Kingdom
• Department of Plastic Surgery, Wexham Park Hospital, London, United Kingdom

and as Associate Director at:
• Plastic Surgery and Burns Unit, Derriford Hospital, Plymouth, United Kingdom
• Department of Plastic Surgery, Royal London Hospital, London, United Kingdom
before returning permanently to Greece. Since then, he has been regularly invited back to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth as a Visiting Consultant, where he primarily focuses on reconstructive breast surgery.

He has specialized in aesthetic and reconstructive breast surgery, aesthetic surgery of the face and body, skin cancer and soft tissue surgery, microsurgery, hand surgery, and laser applications.

He has authored two books and dozens of scientific papers in Greek and, mainly, international journals, has presented more than 100 papers at Greek and international conferences, and is regularly invited as a guest speaker at national and international congresses.

He has received the following awards for his scientific work:
• Honorary Distinction from the Hellenic Surgical Society (1998)
• Commendation from the Hellenic Society of Mastology (2000)
• “N. Papanikolaou” Award from the Hellenic Society of Mastology (2002)
• “Miltiadis Stavrakis” Award from the Hellenic Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (2003)
• Certificate of Excellence for Best Journal Article from the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) (2011)

He is a PhD candidate at the University of Athens, conducting research on the diagnosis of malignant melanoma using computer-assisted methods.

Today, he practices Plastic Surgery privately and collaborates with the hospitals “Metropolitan General,” “Mitera,” “Mediterraneo,” “Iatriko Psychikou,” “Euroclinic of Athens,” “Rea,” “Errikos Dynan,” and “Bioclinic (General Clinic of Athens),” as well as with the pediatric hospitals “Mitera Children’s Hospital,” “Iaso Children’s Hospital,” and “Euroclinic Children’s Hospital.” He also organized and directed for many years the Surgical Department of the Second Dermatology Clinic of the University of Athens at “Attikon” Hospital. At the same time, he is a Scientific Associate of the Fourth Surgical Clinic of the University of Athens, also at “Attikon” Hospital, where he is involved in reconstructive breast surgery and reconstructive surgery in general, as well as in skin cancer surgery, particularly melanoma.
