Injectable Cellulite Treatment with Alidya®

Cellulite, or localized lipodystrophy as it is scientifically known, is a pathological condition of the skin and subcutaneous tissue characterized by impaired blood and lymphatic microcirculation, resulting in localized swelling. It affects approximately 85% of women after puberty, regardless of body weight, and presents with the characteristic “orange peel” appearance.

What causes cellulite and how is it treated?
The exact cause of cellulite has not yet been fully clarified. Important contributing factors appear to be genetic predisposition (heredity), hormonal changes (e.g. puberty, pregnancy, menopause, and use of contraceptives), obesity, poor diet, smoking, and lack of exercise. Traditional treatments aim to reduce localized swelling through massage, dietary measures, and topical application of decongestant substances—approaches that treat the symptoms but not the underlying cause.
In recent years, medical research into the pathophysiology of cellulite has shown that a significant role in its development is played by the accumulation of iron and hemosiderin in the subcutaneous tissue—substances that appear to have a toxic effect on microcirculation and fat cell function. Studies in which agents that reduce the concentration of these substances in the subcutaneous tissue were administered demonstrated significant improvement in cellulite.

What is Alidya®?
Alidya® is an injectable medical device specifically designed to treat cellulite. Its main component is EDTA, a substance that binds iron, thereby reversing its toxic effect in the subcutaneous tissue and restoring normal microcirculation and fat cell function.

How is Alidya® treatment performed?
Alidya® is administered using the mesotherapy technique—by injecting small amounts of the solution superficially into the skin and subcutaneous tissue. A topical anesthetic cream is usually applied beforehand to improve comfort during the procedure.

How many Alidya® treatments are required?
The number of sessions depends on the extent of the problem and the area affected. To achieve visible results, 5–7 weekly treatments are required, followed by one maintenance session every 1–2 months.

What should I expect after Alidya® treatment?
Immediately after treatment, small bruises or mild redness may appear at the injection sites. Avoid applying cosmetic products to the treated area for the first 12–24 hours, as well as exposure to heat sources (sunbathing, sauna, solarium, etc.).

When is Alidya® treatment not recommended?
Alidya® treatment is not recommended for children, during pregnancy and breastfeeding, for patients with a history of anaphylactic reactions and severe allergies, for those with acute or chronic skin conditions, and for individuals with serious illnesses.
