Labiaplasty

The size of the labia is genetically determined; however, in many women it may increase due to aging, hormonal changes, or pregnancy.
Labiaplasty, or labial reduction surgery, aims to reduce the size and improve the appearance of the labia minora.
Most patients seeking treatment feel that their labia minora are excessively large and aesthetically unpleasing when naked or even visible through underwear or swimwear, sometimes causing embarrassment. Other patients experience discomfort during sports and intense physical activity due to friction, while a significant number of women report discomfort during sexual intercourse.

How is it performed?
Labiaplasty is usually performed under general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation and lasts approximately one hour. During the procedure, a small triangular wedge of tissue is removed from the labia minora, leaving a very fine incision. The sutures used are absorbable and dissolve on their own within a few weeks, and the final scar is almost imperceptible.

What should I expect after surgery?
As mentioned above, the procedure is typically performed under general anesthesia, and you can return home the same day. Postoperative discomfort is mild, usually described as a stinging sensation, and is easily managed with common painkillers such as paracetamol or similar analgesics. These symptoms usually subside within 3–4 days. During the first few days, you may notice slight spotting on your underwear, so wearing a small sanitary pad is recommended.

When can I return to normal activities?
If your job does not involve strenuous physical activity, you may return to work within 3–4 days. Intense physical activity and exercise are recommended after one month, and sexual activity should be avoided for at least one month.
